Dark Tranquillity verabschieden zwei Musiker

Es hinterlässt Spuren diese konzertlose Zeit. Nicht nur beim Publikum auch bei den Bands. Erneut meldet eine meiner Lieblingsbands gleich zwei Abgänge. Dark Tranquillity müssen sich leider von Schlagzeuger Anders Jivarp und auch gleich dem anderen Anders, dem Bassisten Anders Iwers verabschieden. Anders Jivarp ist bereits seit der Gründung der Göteborger Melodic Death Band dabei und hat in den 20 Jahren bis auf eine einzige Ausnahme in Istanbul auch alle Shows mit der Band gespielt. Er wird sich neuen Projekten widmen. Anders Iwers ist noch nicth solange dabei und bringt es auf 6 Jahre. Der Bruder des In Flames Tiefsaiters hat auf den letzten beiden brillianten Tonträger mitgespielt und war ein zentraler Teil der Liveshows während den letzten Jahren, als Konzerte noch möglich waren. Ersatz für die beiden wurde auch gleich bekannt gegeben, schliesslich tritt die Band bereits morgen Samstag in Belgien auf dem Alcatrazz Festival auf. Für Jivarp konnte der In Mourning Schlagzeuger Joakim Strandberg – Nilsson verpflichtet werden. Für Iwers kommt Pagandom Sänger und Bassist Christian Jansson.

Thursday, September 27: In Flames, “Dead Alone”

Soundtrack to Your Escape was the first In Flames album that barely qualified as melodic death metal: Reroute to Remain may have been a shock to the system, but it was an extension of what the band had been doing since Anders Fridén joined in 1996.  However, while “Dead Alone” wasn’t that far removed from “Cloud Connected”, “Swim” or “Pinball Map”, it still felt a world away from “Jotun” or even “Embody the Invisible”.  The track moved briskly in typical In Flames fashion, and Fridén’s vocals weren’t exactly melodic, but there was far less menace here, and “Dead Alone” as a whole felt more like alt-metal than even the mellower moments on Reroute to Remain.  Maybe it was the smoothness of Daniel Bergstrand’s production, but Daniel Svensson’s drums didn’t hit as forcefully, and the axework of Jesper Strömblad and Björn Gelotte didn’t bite as hard.  The song was still an enjoyable banger, and felt like a natural continuation of the last couple In Flames records, but when one stopped to think about it, the whole affair was pretty clear departure from death metal, even the melodic variety.  Of course, before one could call this a sellout, there was still the matter of Fridén’s croaking, which was still completely anathema to American radio. Nonetheless, Soundtrack to Your Escape was the true departure point for In Flames, signaling a break from the past that the band subsequently spent the better part of 15 years moving away from.

Omg I discovered them today and it's practically two of my favourite bands blended together! Love the Dark Tranquillity style vocals and lyrics together with the more In Flames like music.

Super high expectations and hype for this new project. 🖤🤘

(Also it's very sad to see people sh*tting on Anders because of the direction that he's given to In Flames. He has contributed greatly to the band and its evolution, and even if you don't like the newer stuff there's no denying that he gave us years and years of wonderful music. Why the shitstorm, people??)
